The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will be reconstructing Hwy 14 from New Ulm to Nicollet between 2022-2023 to improve safety and travel for this important freight and trade corridor. Detour maps can be found online of the four-lane expansion of Hwy 14 with a Courtland bypass will be constructed in 2022-23. Detour routes and access points for local traffic are expected to change throughout different stages of construction. Through traffic will be detoured onto Highways 15, 68 and 169 for the duration of the project. The detour will remain in place until the completion of the project in October 2023. Motorists traveling Hwy 14 between New Ulm to Nicollet can expect a detour beginning Monday, April 11, weather permitting, as crews begin construction on the 12.5-mile corridor.
